I suddenly realized that I have yet to actually have a movie review section in my blog so what better time then to review a sequel that many have been waiting for a long time. With many thanks to the opportunity given by the good people of GPlusMY and Nuffnang we were going to watch the movie much earlier than the general public!
[Movie brought to you by the good people of P14G!]
What we had that night was a premier screening of the movie itself with the collaboration of the launching of the movie as well as the premier launching of P1 Broadband's latest product out there. Basically an improvement of the already existing system that they had which is the P13G and now upgrading their mobile capability of a faster speed as well as a more stable system in hand.
[Good to see ol' Vin and Paul back in action!]
[The GPlusMY members that managed to come for the movie!]
[Me and my buddy Evan couldn't resist a Miami Vice pose]
[Our cinema - complete with complementary drinks and pop corn!]
The Pro: As a long awaited movie, the hype that surrounded the movie was rad. Lining up some of the biggest stars that were or newly involved with the series, the movie has undoubtedly has is star pulling power. As far as I am concerned, people watching this movie were expecting several things. Explosions : you betcha they have tons of it as the were never shy to blow either a car, a house or whatever they can find moving up. The girls: ooh-la-la... and the cars: they lined up the ol' muscle American cars all over again, which kinda give the movie a revamped perspective over the previous Tokyo Drift series. All in all, everything that we would expect to come out of this movie was delivered.
The Cons: Unfortunately, the movie focused to much on the story line rather than the shiny metal body works of the cars, as how most people would want to come and watch this for. Soppy love triagles + betrayal of a friend + back stories of the characters might work for other movies but for a "wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am" story, it doesn't really cut it for the fans. Another thing, what the hell is with the "Semi-Osama like" goatee on The Rock?
Is it movie worthy or just "DVD 3 RM10" worthy? : I'd say for the special effects and extra boom in the explosions, its worth the movie experience. :)
All in all, the final review sez....
[6/10 TehTarik Glasses!]
Truth be told that even though it didn't really hit it as how it did with the first two movie (as always for most movie series) it is still worth the dime to watch it in the movies. I'd say go for it!
